Multifocal Tuberculosis Revealed by Facial Paralysis

Introduction: Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease that remains global public health problem. Children, accounting for 10% of cases, are particularly vulnerable to this disease. Based on case multifocal tuberculosis in 14-month-old infant, the authors conducted literature review condition. Observation: The involved infant referred from center persistent symptoms including anemia, fever, and lateral deviation mouth during crying. Clinical examination revealed an meningeal syndrome, as well facial paralysis. results brain imaging, cerebrospinal fluid examination, fundus gastric lavage led conclusion without association with HIV. Improvement was observed one week after start antituberculosis treatment, complete recovery sequelae 12 months. Conclusion: Although rare, does exists its diagnosis challenging infants. Early treatment generally leads favorable outcomes, especially absence HIV coinfection.
